FAQ

How Do I Know if Therapy is Right For Me?

If you’ve been struggling with a problem for a while and can’t seem to make the changes you desire on your own, then having the support of a therapist can help you to process your situation differently and try new techniques.

What Can I Expect in Therapy?

Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes and couples therapy sessions are 90 minutes.

Before the first session, I will connect you with my secure online client portal system for you to fill out all the intake paperwork ahead of time and get prepared to start your telehealth therapy. After briefly explaining the paperwork & answering any questions, I spend the first session getting to know you, better understanding any concerns you’re having, and identifying your hopes for counseling. Together we will create a custom treatment plan based on your unique needs to use as we work through your goals with each additional session.

For couples, I always meet with you together for the first session and then I will have you complete an extensive online couple’s assessment after the first session. The 2nd session for couples consists of meeting with both of you individually for 45 minutes to further assess your individual perspectives on your relationship needs. The 3rd session for couples will consist of meeting with you together to provide feedback based on your assessment results. We will then develop the best treatment plan for your relationship and will start learning new strategies for relationship healing and growth. Each additional couple’s session will be focused on working through your specific goals.

How Long Will I Need to Attend Therapy?

It varies for every person. Most people start therapy with sessions once a week and gradually increase time between sessions as they gain confidence to maintain their progress on their own. Some people only feel they need therapy for a few months to gain some new skills, whereas others find therapy helpful for longer to process deeper experiences. I work with you to help you enhance your self-awareness by increasing mindfulness, awareness of patterns, trying new skills, and building your self-confidence that you can reach the goals you desire. People find the best progress in reaching their goals when they utilize the time between sessions to apply awareness developed during session or work on practicing new skills. Often after stopping regular sessions, people find it helpful to occasionally schedule check-in sessions to make sure they are staying on track for the life they desire. I always work with you to find out what frequency of therapy best fits your needs.

Is Online Therapy Effective and what are the Benefits?

I conduct all my therapy sessions online using face-to-face video conferencing. I utilize a secure, encrypted telehealth platform that maintains your privacy and makes therapy sessions easily accessible to you from a computer, tablet, or phone. Research shows that telehealth counseling is just as effective as in-person counseling!

There are many benefits of telehealth. Online therapy is more convenient by eliminating the need to travel which allows clients to easily fit a session into their busy day. Online therapy often helps clients to relax more due to being in the comfort of their own home.

Is Therapy Covered by Insurance?

Most insurance plans have mental health benefits which help pay some of the cost for mental health counseling when there is a medical necessity, meaning the client meets criteria for a diagnosis. Most times, people seek out counseling because something is causing them to have symptoms which interfere with them living their daily lives the way they desire. The diagnosis is just the combination of the symptoms you are experiencing. I am in-network with the following insurance plans: Anthem BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, & Cigna. For out-of-network insurance plans, I provide clients with a superbill for them to submit to their insurance plan.

During your initial phone consultation, we can discuss further the pricing for therapy sessions and if you will be able to use your insurance benefits based on your treatment needs.

About Me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in Anxiety, Relationship Issues, and Self-Esteem. I believe every individual has the potential to achieve their desires!

I use evidence-based treatment approaches to make sure you are getting the best quality services. These approaches assist with understanding your thought processes, emotional regulation, developing coping skills, increasing mindfulness, creating self-compassion, or understanding relationship dynamics.
